Rottneros Manor served as the model for Ekeby in Gösta Berling’s Saga from 1891 by Selma Lagerlöf. On the night of Lucia in 1929, the old manor was destroyed in a devastating fire. The then-owner, Svante Påhlsson (1882–1959), had the manor rebuilt according to designs by Georges von Dardel and created Rottneros Park around it as a flower and sculpture park. The park also features Nils Holgersson’s Adventure Park.
